Notable First Sentences: Harry Potter

About once a year I reread all of the Harry Potter books. This year, I was prompted by the realization that I can no longer remember all of the little details of the books (what does the boggart turn into when it is attacking Lavender Brown?). It also seemed like a good time to inaugurate this blog and my first series of posts: Notable First Sentences.

Without further ado, the first sentence of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling:

"Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much."
